Hosted by IEDR

The event

On 26th October 2017 IE Domain Registry (IEDR) proudly hosted Ireland's third annual Internet Day which coincides with International Internet Day. We invited the founder of Wikipedia and one of the most influential internet icons, Jimmy Wales to Dublin as our keynote speaker.  We were delighted to give all proceeds from the event to CoderDojo, the free computer coding workshops for youth.

The IE Domain Registry maintains and manages the dot ie namespace. We began hosting Internet Day to promote awareness, knowledge, use and understanding of the internet in Ireland by its citizens, businesses and communities. It highlights the achievements of Irish and international internet entrepreneurs and the impact on society of the internet innovations and technologies.

Past events were previously held at the Mansion House and the CHQ building in Dublin and featured an array of influencers and special guests. We plan to make Ireland's Internet Day 2018 better again.

About IEDR

The IE Domain Registry (IEDR) is responsible for the management and administration of Ireland’s official internet domain name .ie, in the interest of the Irish and global internet communities.

We have been managing the .ie country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) namespace since 1991. Our work includes protecting, supporting and promoting the online presence of all .ie domain names.

Working with SME's and the growing network of internet communities in Ireland allows us insight into the trends and behaviour of people online. You can see our latest publications for more information:
