ABOUT THE IE DOMAIN REGISTRY (IEDR)

The IE Domain Registry (IEDR) is the official registry for .ie internet domain names.
Our mission is to provide unique, identifiably Irish domain names along with registry and related services to the local and international internet community.
The IEDR is responsible for the management and administration of Ireland’s official internet domain name .ie, in the interest of the Irish and global internet communities.
We operate the domain name system (DNS) for the .ie namespace and operate a public ‘Whois’ lookup service for .ie domains.

Why choose a .ie?

    1. It’s guaranteed Irish: every .ie website must have a proven connection to Ireland and a valid claim to the name.
    2. It’s identifiably Irish: it tells the global community that you are Irish, and the Irish community that you are local.
    3. It’s uniquely Irish: it is the only domain name reserved for anyone with a connection to Ireland and helps to connect Irish businesses to local and global markets online.

Over 230,000 businesses, SMEs, organisations and individuals that have already chosen a .ie domain – will you?

OPTIMISE Fund

We set up the OPTIMISE Fund in 2011 to provide Irish SMEs and micro-enterprises with a range of e-commerce supports. This means working shoulder-to-shoulder with business owners to plan, develop and implement significant web enhancements, like building e-commerce capabilities to their existing websites. We’ve also provided training and web development services, along with technical and marketing consultancy, through OPTIMISE.
Since 2011, the OPTIMISE Fund has helped over 90 SMEs and micro-enterprises to develop their e-commerce offering and online presence. Click here to see how.
